Medicine isn’t supposed to taste good, right? As long as it works, it doesn’t matter how potent the taste. Healthy natural ingredients come together to deliver a powerful punch to cold and flu. Once you feel the first symptoms, grab a glass of this Turmeric Tonic. Bottom’s up.
There are different ways to make Turmeric Tonic, or Master Tonic as some call it, but this recipe calls for fresh turmeric and apple cider vinegar – 2 powerhouses for your immune system.
Bad Taste Kills (Bacteria)
The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar is a potent microbial that kills bacteria. More than just internal use, ACV has been used for centuries to treat lice, nail fungus, and ear infections. Not only does ACV kill bacteria, but it can prevent bacteria from growing any further.
Apple cider vinegar has also been known to lower and stabilize blood sugars making it good for diabetics. And if you have diabetes and you get sick, blood sugar levels are tough to control, so the Fire Cider is great to have on-hand for cold and flu season.
Turmeric is one of the most medically potent herbs. The curcumin in turmeric acts as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and a great cleanser for your bloodstream. Turmeric helps kill free radicals that cause illness and could lead to cancer.
Turmeric also adds to the taste of this tonic. Made with garlic, onion, ginger, and horseradish, the taste of the tonic is clearly not a top priority. Garlic and ginger are great anti-inflammatories that strengthen your immune system and help fight colds.
Never worry about the dosage of store-bought medicines again. Instead, get ready for cold and flu season by preparing this tonic early. Whether you call it Turmeric Tonic, Master Tonic, Fire Cider, or Cold-B-Gone, this potent beverage will work.
- Unfiltered unrefined Apple Cider Vinegar
- Fresh Turmeric
- Fresh Horseradish
Put equal amounts of onion, garlic, ginger, turmeric, horseradish, and chili into a food processor and pulse until finely chopped.
Transfer to a clean resealable jar and cover with apple cider vinegar. Cover jar with lid and let sit in a cool dark area for 2-4 weeks. Shake your mixture once every day.
When your Turmeric Tonic is ready it will be “liquid gold”. Strain the liquid and compost the veggies. The Tonic doesn’t need to be refrigerated, but needs to be stored somewhere cool and dark.
To consume, drink 1 tablespoon followed by something delicious. You can also mix the Turmeric Tonic with a little honey and lukewarm water – some people drink this all year round, as it is known to prevent colds and keep your immune system working at top notch.
